A Perfect Day

I have been waiting for this day all week. Today is zoo day! Zane and I decided since Soren is 1 year old now and has shown a TREMENDOUS interest in animals we should buy a membership to the zoo and today was our first day to use it.

We started the day like any other Saturday. Zane got up with Soren and let me sleep in (sweet, I know), all of us slowly got ready for the day, we headed down to Sprout Soup to pick up diaper liners and one more Dream-Eze diaper (unfortunately, they did have the Dream-Eze size we needed so we only got the liners), got back home and we were all ready to put Soren down for a nap except the nap never happened. It never happened after we fed him lunch. It never happened after we bounced for a while and watched some really low key TV. It never happened! Zane could see that I was really getting a bit frustrated and thinking my week long dream of going to the zoo was about to go out the window so he suggested to pack up the car with snacks, one baby with a clean diaper, and two parents and head to the zoo napless.

On our flurry we decided a stop at Starbucks was an order. Check out Soren giving the lady at the window a look...

At 1:20pm we made it to the zoo. Of course, Soren was sacked out from the magical car ride so we prepped the stroller and carefully removed him from his car seat. He slept and slept and slept. We walked half way through the North America exhibit and woke up just in time to see Brutus and Buckeye - two very beautiful brown bears that were definitely enjoying their day in the sun. We all thoroughly enjoyed watching them play in the pond with a big log and doddle around their habitat.

We slowly meandered through the rest of the zoo taking in the sites of the playful (and some sleepy) animals and finally decided to call it a day at the monkey exhibit. We were back in car by 3:30pm. It is so nice to know that with the membership we can go as much as we want and spend a few hours or several hours.

The rest of the day was somewhat uneventful. Soren was suppose to take another nap around 4:30pm, but that never happened. After about an hour of trying to get him to go to sleep using several different tactics, I threw in the towel and decided to just let him play. Amazingly enough he was a peach the entire evening. I guess he was just not in the mood for nappy time today.

Later I managed to the clean the bathroom - woohoo - and get another coffee at Starbucks (yes, it is a little ridiculous) and getting ready to do some laundry. Church tomorrow and hopefully, if I pray hard enough, maybe some more sunshine, but probably not, I think it is suppose to rain. Oh well, God has to water his garden sometime even it is on weekend.
