I took the day off from work today. It was one of the multiple purpose need-the-day-off kind of things. Zane hurt his back over the weekend and has been trying really hard to get it back on the mend, but his back is being stubborn and taking its sweet old time so I thought it would be good to help him out with house chores, and of course, taking care of our wee one. I also took the day off because I wanted to spend time with Soren and Zane - just be together. And the weather was really nice. And I needed/wanted to get some stuff done around the house. And I forgot to take a shower the night before (taking a shower in the morning wakes Soren up so if you miss it you just stay dirty an extra day or get less sleep). And I just wanted the day off.
It was a lovely day. Soren and I went to the zoo and only saw the polar bears. They are so fun and by the time we got around to trying to see something else Soren reminded me that it was time for lunch. On the way home Daddy called and suggested having lunch out so we met up at Chick-Fil-A - YUM! We all had a delicious time there. After lunch we played together and did some chores then it was naptime - for Soren, not us. During the napping hour Zane did some stuff for work and I headed to Lowe's. I was expecting to get socked with a $100 bill, but only $75. Still more than I wanted, but less than I expected. Soren and I spent the eveing having dinner, playing outside, taking a bath, playing with the flashlight, sharing a peanut butter and honey slice of toast, reading books, and giving kisses. Oh yeah, did I mention that Soren says "I love you" now - AWESOME. He gives me so much encouragement. As a parent sometimes you think you are doing things in vain, but then he proves to me that all our hard work is worth it and he really is learning. He is such a wonderful little boy! What a blessing.
Well, I think I am going to watch the tele and wait for the hubby to get off work. Have a blessed night!
