Lesson Learned

Yesterday evening was a time to really and truly count my blessings. Soren and I were on our way to the mall to check the ever so cute Halloween costumes (I know, I am a little late this year). We got to the mall and I realized that Daddy had the "nice" stroller in his car and I only had the umbrella stroller, not my favorite. But you work with what you've got and since we weren't going to be there very long (little did I know how very short the trip was going to be) I thougth I would proceed. Anyway, so I got the stroller out of the trunk and all set up and then got Soren out of his car seat. I put him in the stroller seat and was getting him strapped in when I look over at my side and saw the bumper of a car near my head! This MORON of a driver backed up her car without looking and nearly bumped right into us - I couldn't believe it! There was not enough time to give this lady my two sense as I was in complete shock and she was driving out the parking oblivious.

I tried to compose myself and proceeded into the mall, but Soren decided to have a complete meltdown thus fringing my nerves a little more. He calmed down a little, but halfway through the cosmetics section of Macy's he had another meltdown. I promptly scooted in between some clothing racks to get him to calm down with a few comments about a timeout, but he was not showing in promising good behavior so went left. Yep, less than 5 minutes in the mall and we didn't even make it through one store and left. I was so furious about the absolutely ridiculous driver and the possible situation of us getting hit by a car and then Soren's outburst, I almost could not get it together. Once we in the car and on our way home Soren calmed himself, but I was still fuming. Not so much at him, but at the driver. I think I was just so upset because of the what-could-have-been and the absolute mindlessness of the driver.

Things are better today and the lesson I learned - from now on, when humanly possible, but the stroller on the side of the car when loading and unloading your child or children no matter how close the stroller might be to trunk!
