Oh Weekend, I Miss You Already

This weekend was so nice. Finally, it was one of those weekend where you don't have anything in particular to get done and can do as you please for the most part.

Friday night I wished a friend farewell as he gets ready to embark on a new career journey and then had Italian food with a friend and my two very favorite men (the hubby and Soren, of course).

Saturday we got started early. My car desperately needed an oil change and brake job so we dropped it off at the mechanic right before hitting the gym. Zane and I haven't been to the gym on Saturday in about 2 weeks so it was good, but somewhat difficult to get back in the swing of things - hopefully we can stay on track. After our workout, we headed to the farmer's market - L.O.V.E this time of year. We bought four tomato plants and four pepper plants. Normally we would buy more, but we are getting rid of garden "trough" on the deck this year so I will only have pots to grow everything. I am thinking about skipping flowers too and just doing herbs and veggies (not sure if I can do it though - I think I need the color to look to at).

On our way home the mechanic called and said it would cost $430 dollars for new front rotors and pads! Ridiculous. We declined the job and I plan on taking the car to the little town I work in hopes of getting a better rate. We shall see. The rest of our day was relaxing. I planted veggies and worked in the garden while Daddy worked on grading and then we made dinner and polished off the evening with some ice cream. Yum! Summer is here.

Sunday we finally made it back to church. We were MIA for a while (Easter, sickness, family pictures), but now we are back and it is so nice. We had lunch at Jason's Deli - just the three of us.We just sat at our little table enjoying each others company and eating yummy food. Soren went nuts with the broccoli, red peppers, beans, and cranberries. I feel so lucky that this kid loves food. Well, maybe it is part luck and a part persistence when he was a wee one. The rest of our day we just hung out. I made dinner and a batch of Martha Stewart double chocolate chip cookies (I feel like such a supermom when I make dinner and dessert). Now blogging and enjoying a hard earned cookie :)

Night!
