Motherhood is keeping me very busy and away from the post office, so I thought I would put my New Year's letter instead...at least this year anyway.
Happy New Year! While looking ahead to 2014 I thought I
would share about the great year we’ve had in 2013. Most excitingly, this year
brought us new life as our second son, Greyson Samuel was born on March 22nd.
We were able to spend 3 glorious Spring months together as family during my
maternity leave doing nothing, but everything all at the same time.
Zane continues to teach at the college. This fall marks his fourth year! It is so amazing to see the work and
progress of each student over a year. Zane really is enjoying this opportunity
to teach (and a little time to be away from the house with adults!). This
summer, Zane also started teaching 2D Design part time at the Cultural Arts
Center downtown and is expecting to be there again in 2014. When he is not
working, he spends his days with our two little ones, building tents and
tunnels, exploring various parts of Columbus, and creating culinary
masterpieces to be savored by our little family. Most nights, we enjoy a real
treat!
Soren has been very busy this year to say the least. Besides
enjoying his baby brother, he spent the beginning of the year at soccer camp,
taking swim lessons, going to his first Vacation Bible School, making new
friends, and learning how to ride his bike fast, fast, fast! Soren also started
his second year of preschool (K-4) and is loving every minute of it. He is
really excelling with reading. In January, Soren started taking Spanish classes
and is doing pretty well. This class has been a great experience for all of us.
Greyson is bouncing right along. Aside from being born, he
has learned how to sleep through most of the night (only getting up once to eat),
sitting up, seconds away from crawling, clapping and waving, and most
importantly smiling and laughing nonstop – his Daddy really knows how to get
him going. Greyson loves his brother and is fascinated by everything he does.
As for me, I am still working at the hospital, but started working from home twice a week. That has been a real
blessing to our family as I can be home sooner and Zane and I are actually able
to spend a little time together. This year I started out with a really strong
beehive, but unfortunately, I lost them due to a wax moth infestation at the
end of the summer. I didn’t have the time needed to care for them with the new
little one in our life, but while it was sad, it was an amazing biology lesson
(but a messy clean up)! Other than work
and loving on our family, we have tried to do a little home improvement. We added
new windows to the house, ripped out some very dead bushes, finished the
nursery for Greyson, and nearly finished re-doing the laundry room.
It has been a wonderful 2013, but we can’t wait to see what
the Lord has in store for us in 2014. From our home to yours, we wish a very
blessed and happy New Year!
