Holy Toledo this has been a crazy week. Not in the sense that we did a million things or had a huge catastrophe, just the fact that we were bluntly reminded by our son that parenting is NOT easy and that we have pretty much had an easy road up until now.

It all started on Monday. Soren was not feeling well as I stated in my last post, but he eventually got over his fever and got back his energy, but on Tuesday he still was not his normal self in the way of eating. By Wednesday, not only did he not want to eat his normal food primarily veggies, he had an attitude about it. I must say Wednesday was the worst. Not only was Soren in a mood, things at work were a little annoying, I lost my glasses (again) later to find them in the grass at the restaurant I went to for lunch with some dear friends from GA, and I was exhausted by the time I got home.

Thursday things got a little better, but Soren was still not having the his veggies and only wanted crackers, yogurt, and fruit - nothing else. Well, that was not going to fly with us. After a drawn out battle and few cross words between the hubs and myself, we both headed our separate ways to find some saving grace to remedy the situation (meaning some sort of published guidance to let us know that this can be fixed and how to do it). Berkley Parents network seemed to do the trick - we will probably reference this site again. Once the battle was over Zane and I regrouped myself, the hubs suggested a nice drive to get out of the house with a possible stop for ice cream. That sounded delightful and did the trick. At the end of Thursday we decided to remove Soren's high chair tray and move his seat to the table with us.

Friday - well, Friday was the night for Zane toss his cookies. Again, Soren did not want to eat his veggies the normal way. He wanted our corn chowder, our spoons, our bowls. So that is what we did - we gave him corn chowder soup for dinner minus the corn (it is recommended that children do not eat corn before 18 months) with our spoon from our bowl. Once I ran out of veggies that he could have we added his veggies to the chowder broth. Sneaky sneaky. Zane was really frustrated by the whole ordeal so it was my turn to suggest a nice drive followed by a stop for ice cream. I think God understood our plight because as we left the house it appeared that we would surely get poured on, but we made it into the ice cream store and left all without a drop - Thank you Jesus - we needed that! And thank you Mom for your encouragement. It is always nice to hear that you are not bad parents and that this phase too will pass.

Here we are on this fine, hot, humid Saturday racking our brains to find a way to successful nourish our little man when he wakes up from his afternoon nap. Wish us luck.
