We are all packed. We are taking a toy lawnmower with us that blows bubbles (hopefully this will be a nice distraction from things he is not allowed to get into). It orginally belonged to my nieces, but they oh so very graciously gave it to their little cousin to enjoy now that they are too tall for it. Thanks guys. We are also taking bubbles. Hopefully they will be enjoyed by all. Zane bought the extra large tub of bubbles because it was a better deal - I think we will have bubbles until Jesus comes (famous quote from my friend Kelly)!
There is going to be soooo much food as usual. We bring food every year to share. Last year we took the easy way out and brought Lox and Bagels. This year Zane is smoking ribs and a beef brisket. This will be his first adventure with a smoker and I think he is really looking forward to it. I can't wait to taste it!
Before leaving for our little journey, we made a pit stop at Borders. Zane had a gift certificate to blow so he bought a couple of Steinbeck books (his favorite author - well, one of them). I bought Soren "The story of Ferdinand". In case you haven't read this it is definitely worth a read and if you have small children a good purchase. The pictures are beautiful (I am a little bias because they are etchings) and the story is touching - lots of good lessons/values to point out for your kids. I think I might use this later in Soren's life.
Well, that is all. I haven't downloaded many pictures off my camera lately. Sorry. Here are a few from a while ago. Soren loves to play with kitchen "stuff". If he is having a fit it will immediately calm him. That is one thing that is go great about this age - curiousity usually gets the best of him - Praise the Lord for that!
