Short, but Long

We are back from our adventure at the lake. We had fun, but we are EXHAUSTED - well, were exhausted. The trip up to the lake went very well. Soren and I played most of the time and he took a small nap right before we got there. We only made one stop that took 10 minutes or less and got to the lake ahead of schedule. Soren was so excited to see all the people and all the new things to explore, but most of all he was excited to play with all the doors. Things were working out swimmingly for a while, but then everything was kicked up a notch. Soren was too excited to eat, too excited to sleep, and too excited to listen. By Sunday we were eating in the backyard so Soren would not be distracted by all the people, and Soren was so tired that when he FINALLY did take a nap he slept for over 3 hours. By 6:00pm Sunday Zane and I were so tired and so ready to be back to our routine that we decided to come home early. Despite the fact that it was 9:30pm when we left (right around Soren's bed time) and we already tired, we knew it would be worth it! We were sad to leave our friends, but as parents we need what needed to be done for the sake of sanity.
With a cup of coffee at the late night McDonald's my hubby was able to drive us all home to the comfort our beds and the hopes of a nice quiet day to follow.

Today we spent a nice quiet day together - a day that included a nice nap for ALL! Soren enjoyed his nap so much that his slept for over 3 hours again! I think he might be playing catch up for a couple of days - oh well, I think it was worth it!

I love the stage Soren is in, but I am looking forward to the time when listening is commonplace and sleeping in different places is okay! Oh well. We will see what next year brings.
