The Importance of Family

As it is noted on my blog, I am reading "Bringing Up Boys" by Dr. James Dobson. The words in this book are not rocket science, but rather common sense. Dobson illustrates the importance of caring for our children in the best possible way. My reading tonight ended on a discussion and several illustrations of how important the family unit is and how important it is for children, not just boys, to have both parents together in their lives. This is so very true.

My parents divorced when I was 10 years old. While they are both very loving parents and did a good job in raising my sister and I, I can't help, but to think what our lives would be like if my parents had stayed together.

Society tries to tell us that children do just fine either way, but in reality, they do much better, thrive in fact, when the parents walk side by side.
