Date Night with Soren

Last night Soren and I had a date night. Daddy went to hang out with our friend so this was a perfect time for Soren and I to do something together so we headed to the pool. We haven't been to the pool in so long and I actually was started to feel guilty for not  having Soren at the pool more often. I think he needs to get a lot more comfortable with the water.

Right after dinner we got dressed in our swim suits and dashed out the door as quickly as we toddlerly could (it took about 15 minutes with an unexpected diaper change, shoes, towels, bag, and drink). Soren was so excited. Our pool has so much for him to do. Fountains, a small slide (and a big one for big people), water, lots of water, water squirting from a lot of whoosywhatsits. While overall we had a great time, there was one lesson learned. No running at the pool! Soren had a spill on the wet floor shortly after we got there. While it broke my heart for him to fall and feel any sort of pain, it did help him remember that we don't run, we walk. It is so hard as a parent to watch my baby get hurt, but sometimes it just seems like they have to. I try and try to tell him, "Don't do it, it will hurt you", but sometimes my warnings falls on deaf ears and lessons have to be learned the hard way.

After swimming we dashed home to change our wet clothes (Mommy forgot to bring dry clothes, but I did remember the towels :)) and headed off to the grocery store. I didn't have all the supplies for Daddy's birthday cake and I knew the store was also having a sale on blueberries. Soren loves blueberries!!! We headed home again and got ready for bed. We had such a good time being together just the two of us. We love Daddy, but it is very special to have some one-on-one time together.
