This post is late, but I still wanted to share.
Several weeks ago I had to make an emergency trip to pick up Soren so my husband could attend an emergency meeting. It was quite a chaotic time - leaving work, getting out the garage, picking up a sandwich for my little, and getting to our meeting place on time. I got there on time and my husband made it to his meeting, but while I was trying to get myself and Soren organized I had Soren sit in the front seat of the car while I put everything in the bag (blankie, food, drink, toys). Don't worry the car was off and I had the keys in my purse. Soren thought it was great to seat in the driver's seat and push all the buttons including the headlights. Little did I know that he had turned on the lights! YIKES!!
We headed into the bookstore to eat our lunch, read books and played with the trains. After about an hour we left the bookstore and went to Old Navy to look for gloves and check out their end of the season sales. We were probably in there for another 20-25 minutes. We got a call from my husband and started to head back to the car. As I walked to the car, child in tow, backpack and purse and a shopping bag, I managed to push the button to unlock my car...except the car did not unlock -none of the car doors unlocked! Freak out mode. Thank goodness you can still unlock a car the old-fashioned way - insert key in key hole.
I unlocked the car and got Soren in his seat and then, silly me, I tried to start the car - nope, it didn't start all! Freak out mode again and prayer (shouldn't it be the opposite?? YES!!!).
After about 5-7 minutes of waiting and chatting with my little one, I turned over the key and cranks just a little, but not quite enough. I waited a little bit more and tried again - THE. CAR. STARTS! Soren and I were exhilarated. I told Soren, "Jesus started our car". We were both so excited.
I loved having my son experience this and being able to see first hand just what the Lord can do when you ask and wait. In this case, I didn't have to wait long. Soren still talks about Jesus starting our blue car to this day!
