From the first week of January when the first hammer went through the wall that started this dirty, but oh so wondefully fantastic mess, until now, we have been working our buns off tearing down here, moving pipes and wires there, scraping ceiling after ceiling after ceiling, cutting, nailing, hammering, sawing, Home-Depoting, Lowesing, Urgent Caring (only once thank goodness) until our hair was dusty and white. The job is by no means done, but it is so much closer that I can actually smell the cabinets and the paint in my dreams.
Here are a few pics of our work in progress
The kitchen
(this view is of the pantry and the entrance into the dining room. Where the pantry ends on the opposite side of the red dolly is where the dining roome entrance used to be from the kitchen. As you can see, removing this wall really increased the size of the kitchen)
The kitchen
(this is the other side of the kitchen and partial view of eating area and the new refrigerator)
There were a lot of pipes and electrical items to be moved - here you can see some of the work.
New recessed lightin in the family room.
This is hallway that connects the front door/foyer to the downstairs bathroom and then into the kitchen.
More recessed lights being added and one decorative light was relocated in the kitchen.
The pantry again - I guess I like this area, so many pictures.
The dining room
(we moved the dining room light and added a ceiling medallion. You can see here how the dining room connects into the foyer).
Our flooring. All 25 boxes with the padding sitting in the foyer.
Master bedroom (the ceilings have been scraped to remove the popcorn texture and Zane cleverly engineered a box to mesh with the ceiling for a ceiling fan).
Spare bedroom with the ceiling texture removed and the tarps on the floor.
Soren's bedroom with the ceilings scraped and the wired for overhead lighting.
Our current "play room" and later to be family room
(this connects the kitchen and the deck outside). Thanks to my generous sister and brother-in-law for the train table - this has been a true blessing for everyone.
The bathrooms, other bedroom/studio/, garage, basement and yard are not included. I will try to update on those next time.
