What a great (last) weekend!
Friday evening we enjoyed family time at Chick Fil-A and made a quick trip to Toys R Us for a birthday gift. Soren, of course, left with a little prize of his own, a toy airplane.
Saturday was our anniversary celebration. Our anniversary was in May, but my sister offered to baby sit Soren in June when she was available and we are not one to turn down free child care - it doesn't come around very often. So the hubs and I spent the day together. First was lunch at Clifton Mill and then a trip to The Gorge at John Bryan State Park. Since we both grew up in this area it was nice to revisit and reminisce a little. We probably would have stayed at The Gorge longer, but we got beaten out by the heat. It was hot!!! We felt like we were old people hiking around, but I guess being in a lunch coma and the hot did not help one bit. We should have been on this considering we have been working out at least twice a week.
Our motivation for finishing the hike was nice cool, air-conditioned car. We had orginally intended to walk around Yellow Springs, but again, the heat. So we ventured to Fairborn to go to the book store. Wow, the bookstore. A whole trip to the book store without chasing a little one everywhere. But before we made it there we made an impromptu stop at the suit store for the hubs. Zane needed a suit for a wedding he is in and his dad has been bugging him to get a suit so we stopped. T.W.O hours later we left! It was really a fun experience despite the time. We had a great salesman and Zane got two very nice looking suits. Check that one off the list.
We finally made it to the bookstore and what did I do? I went to the children's section. Then I got a coffee. Then I read about children. I can't help myself. We finished our evening with some very delicious Thai food.
Soren had a great day with his cousins and aunt and uncle. Lots of fun in the sun, feed a couple horses, feed some chickens and ran around like a wild man. I love that he has a good place to go to spend time in the country. Thanks sis!
Sunday was church. Then a wonderful lunch with our dear old friends (who know live in Georgia). Soren was so good and it was so nice to catch up with everyone. Of course, lunch is not lunch without a stop at Jeni's ice cream. We continued our visit over a Trio - pistachio and honey, goat cheese with cherries, and chocolate - yummo! The rest of our evening was low key - play time, bath time, bed time - you know the drill.
