Life As We Know It

Things have been super busy in our neck of the woods lately as you can imagine so there has been little time and motivation to post any thoughts, random or not, but I thought tonight would be a great night to eat some ice cream, put my feet up, and jot down a few notes of what we are up to in this so called life.

Let's start with Soren...I love talking about him.

He is busy as ever learning the new ropes of being four. He can still be quite the sass-master and we are working on that, but there are so many moments of pure sweetness that I can't possibly capture them all to write about, but here are a few. He enjoys hugging and kissing my belly! He is super-duper understanding of my limitations, but reminds me often that when the baby comes how I will can do this and this and that - a good cheerleader. Lots of love for my hugs, kisses, please, and thank you for Mommy and Daddy. The sweetest prayers at meals and bedtime and sometimes just because he feels we need to pray for some one else - love it!

Soren loves going to school and spending time with this friends. He recently started a Spanish class in January and enjoys going and learning the new words. Daddy taught him how to play Candyland and Mommy taught him how to play Memory. Can't wait for him to learn how to play the new game his baby brother got him.

It is amazing how many things Soren has learned and become proficient at in the past few weeks. He is really making good use of the phrase "I want to do it all by myself".
  • Putting small beads on a string
  • Putting on his shoes all by himself (he was just putting them on the correct feet, but now he puts the tongue in and fastens the straps)
  • Puts on his coat and zips it most of the time
  • Write his uppercase letters and most of lower case letters
  • Walks next to Mommy and Daddy without holding hands. I am not too excited about this one, but Zane thought it would be good for him to learn especially if we are holding the baby.
  • Reading, reading and more reading. He read the entire book of "The Snowy Day" the other day right before nap (only needed help on about 5 words)
  • Counted to 100 on the abicus that we bought for his baby brother
I know that is not all, but I just really can't believe how much he is growing physically, mentally and socially. Speaking of physically, I forgot to mention that Soren had his 4th year visit (I can't believe he is actually 4) and he is huge - 75% for height (44 inches) and 60% for weight (37 lbs). It seems like I can't buy pants and shirts enough. As a result of his growth, we had to change his car seat to a booster seat. I was not thrilled about this at all, but when we went to the fire department to have the infant seat put in and have his seat inspected in both cars, they said according to the rules, it was time to switch. Yikes!

Zane is next...I love to talk about him too.

Zane is the rock right now for the family. This pregnancy feels like it is kicking my butt 45% of the time and is working to help us all do the daily routine. Such a sweetie!

In top of taking care of the little man and helping his very pregnant wife, he started teaching his anatomy drawing course. I think this class is so much more interesting than perspective drawing because not only are you drawing the human figure, but you are also learning what it is made of. Zane enjoys this one more too!

Zane met his goal of getting the backsplash done in the kitchen before the baby comes and it looks AWESOME! Now if we can find lights that we like before D-Day then it will be extra awesome.

On to me...

Still pregnant, but very much looking forward to the big day!!

Working, working, and working still (and will be until they tell me it is time). There is so much work to be done, but thankful that people are being pretty kind to me. The hike to and from the parking garage, through the hospital and to my desk seems like quite the feat these days, but it is good exercise. I just wish the wind and cold weather would go away so my face could stop burning.

I have nearly finished the nursery and I must say that I am pretty excited about. The curtains went up this past weekend and the finishing touches are expected this weekend. It will be such a great space for our newest little bundle...well, maybe in 5 months after he is born - he will be spending the most, if not all of his nights and naps in a co-sleeper in our room. So thankful for good friends that let us borrow theirs.

More things to do on the house before the baby comes - clean the bathrooms again, clean the fridge, mop all the floors, repot my plants, on and on and on - the nesting stage is definitely here and I am truly trying to pace myself.

Other than work, family, and being 35 weeks pregnant that is really all I am up to.

So there you have it friends and readers - that is what we have been doing! So much more to be done in a totally different way in the weeks to come.

Night!
